The thing about cocktails is this: they’re very personal. For instance, I loathe Cosmopolitans, but I secretly adore chocolate martinis. Regular martinis make me want to retch (literally), but Manhattans. Mmmmm yum. (And of course, Old Fashioneds).

And then there’s the Negroni. My word, have you ever tasted one? When I first locked lips with a Negroni it was immediate love. My taste buds all started hootin’ and hollerin’, my eyes twinkled like beautiful gemstones, and I knew I had found my drink.

It was fruity in a subtle way, sweet without being cloying, and contained enough bitterness to match my disposition.

Since I’m a dork, I wanted to see from whence the Negroni originated, and it seems there are 2 differing thoughts. This makes it so much more mysterious and alluring, once again matching my disposition.

In any event, it’s easy to remember the Negroni recipe, since it’s equal parts Campari, Sweet Vermouth, and gin. Serve it over ice with a lovely little orange curlir?t=tinyrotten 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000FFIVUG.

Confession: I do not own a shot glass, so here’s my recipe:
