Hope you all had and are having a fantastic Christmas season or any other holiday you may or may not be currently or in the past or future celebrating or even thinking about.

My Christmas started out strong with the application of a fresh estrogen patch, and just kept getting better. The night ended with my sister and me doing a taste comparison of Whistlepig bourbon and rye, with bourbon emerging the resounding victor.

Besides that it was a chill day. A fun chill day. Bex lobbied for us to open presents in the evening on Christmas, and we all agreed that it was fucking fabulous to not launch into forced merriment first thing upon waking.

We ate leftover grazing food from the day before, made chili and cookies, walked outside and breathed air, napped (obvi), and then eased into a little gift-opening.

My favorite gift, besides the bourbon, was a hot dog costume from my sister. She snapped it up at Target the day after Halloween, most likely tiring of me whining about never having a costume to wear on Halloween. Just one more awesome way Halloween and Christmas have comingled.

What an intro! Okay, onto the list.

Discovered and Obsessed With

Semi-cured gel nail strips. My god, fellas. I have mostly kept my nails short and unalluringly naked, due to how rough I am on my hands. Then my library director turned me onto nail strips. I am currently sporting a deep, rich reddish subtly sparkly set that make me look holiday ravishing. The first set I wore for 2 1/2 weeks and my nails had grown out healthy and perfect underneath!

The hurdles:

  • You must make sure your nails are completely clean and dry, and use the little included alcohol wipes to even further clean them.
  • You must take great care to fully press them onto your nails in every little place or they catch your hair in the shower.
  • With short nails, it’s hard to tell where the ends of the strips are vs. the end of your nails, so trimming and filing them evenly can be a little tricky.

Have you tried these? Do you have tips for me?

Health

I have, for the past 1 1/2 months, been faithfully walking on my treadmill. Most mornings I will walk for at least 45 minutes, and don’t you know, the rumors are true. I’ve lost fat (menopause belly!), sleep better, feel more calm overall, and can now explode my enemies with a mere glance.

It’s a cheapo Amazon walking pad that I use with a small raised side table thingy, and this morning I worked through day 2 of an Insight Timer course and then watched a short documentary on Hilma af Klint.

Dating

I have begun the incredibly fulfilling and self affirming pastime called ‘online dating’. Have you heard of it? What a trip. No dick pics yet, knock on wood. And truly, it’s been a fascinating ride so far – not entirely awful.

I’ll keep you posted if anything exciting transpires. For now please rest assured there are a lot of men looking for ‘partners in crime’, so I’m wondering if I should up my pickpocketing game?

Semi-cured gel nail strips – (I’ve only used Dashing Diva brand so far – I read that Ohora nails are a little on the narrow side.)

Treadmill pad – mine isn’t sold any more; this one is similar and gets good reviews.

Desk thingy – It fits perfectly on my 19” wide treadmill pad, and I use a laptop riser box on top of it for extra height. (I’m 5’6” and the box gives it another 6”.) If the width of the walking pad I linked above is correct, it may just fit perfectly! The measurement of the space between the legs on mine is exactly 20”.
